Hover 1 electric scooter review overview:
Hover-1 Alpha electric-powered scooter is, with the aid of using far, the best scooter out of many in this price range. Featuring a whopping max 450W motor, this scooter can achieve max riding speeds of 18mph for a 12 miles ride distance with ease.
This electric beast stands on 10” air-filled tires, with an extra-wide footpad. Resulting in great mobility and driver experience. Hover 1 Alpha can fold and it’s ready to be stored while now no longer in use.
Most Hover 1 electric scooter reviews including this one are very critical of the warranty duration which is only 90 days.

How good is Hover-1 Alpha? The Hover-1 Alpha is, in general, a budget-friendly electric bike. It performs well, comes with an effective engine, and has great tires that give comfortable rides.
Build quality is great but is this scooter worth the $499 price tag? The short answer is yes. And we will tell you why in the rest of this post.
Hover 1 electric motor
The motor in Hover 1 is electric and it produces 350w in normal power and 450w max power. With that power, it’s able to achieve a speed of 18 mph.
Top speed will differ based on factors like weight, riding surface, incline, battery level, and others.
Hover 1 electric scooter battery life and charger
As previously stated this scooter can achieve 12 miles on a full battery. But some factors influence the riding distance as like in all other electric scooters.
The 30-cell lithium-ion battery, a voltage of 36 Volts, and a capacity of 216 Watt-hours will be fully charged and ready to go in 4-6.5 hours (as per manufacturer). Keep in mind that charging will last longer, around 5.5 hours.
The battery supports up to 5000 charge cycles, but that number is probably around 15% lower. Also, there is an included hover 1 electric scooter charger in the package.
The deck of the Hover 1 scooter
The deck is sturdily made. It’s wide and it has a lot of grip. This deck will ensure a great riding experience and as a bonus, there is light on the bottom side of the deck.
When you turn on the light it projects the company logo on the floor under the board.
The lights on this scooter are CRAZY
As we mentioned already there is an x logo under the board, which when turned on makes the board look awesome. The front light is ok, a little better than average scooter lights in this range. The backlight shines read constantly and flickers when brakes are being used. Even tho this scooter has great lights it is not recommended to ride it when dark falls, as any other scooter. Drive safe, stay safe.
Tires on Hover 1
Hover-1 tires are a 10-inch air-filled model, very wide and they provide great stability. Just like almost all other scooters in this range, it does not have a suspension. Mudguards are very sturdy and provide great coverage, so almost non or little mud will get on you while riding this electric scooter.
Scooter cockpit
Ensuring a smooth ride is greatly designed and a comfortable steering wheel. Grips are very grippy (for lack of a better word) and are a great size for an average adult. On the right side is the acceleration paddle and on the left side, there are brakes and a bell. Controls and speed gauges are located in the middle of the steering wheel.
Breaking
We can’t stress this enough, breaking is a major concern while riding. Most electric scooters can fast speed in a small time window, hence they need to have a great braking system. The hover 1 breaking system is based on only rear wheel disk breaks. This is not ideal but since this is a budget electric scooter you can’t expect it to have everything.
Portability of Hover 1
The scooter is easily foldable, with 2 simple moves it folds, so you can easily carry or store it. Hover 1 is a little bit heavier than the rest of the competition in this price range, but only about 3 – 4 pounds. Dimensions are as follows:

Build quality and accessories
For a 400USD electric scooter, the build quality is on point. Hover 1 electric scooter parts are sturdy, nicely designed, and will last a long time with proper maintenance. DIY repairs are not recommended since most of the parts are available at an official store.
For optimal rides make sure to do regular maintenance, since some users reported screws getting loose. So make sure you check screws now and then, check tire pressure and have a quick look at the breaking disk to check for any damages.
There is no after-market support for Hover 1, but there are many generic scooter accessories that will fit on Hover 1. Just be sure to check the dimensions of certain parts of the scooter before buying any accessories.
Locking and security
Since this is a relatively cheap scooter, there is no way to lock it. From our experience, there is not much you can do, except getting a strong lock.
Engineering, build quality, and materials + IP rating and waterproofing
The scooter both looks and feels reliable, strong, and sturdy. All connecting joints are strong and have little room for wiggling. The deck is really wide, in combination with great grip, slipping from this scooter is very hard.
The Hover-1 Alpha scooter is not waterproof and has no IP rating. Please stay out of the rain since the manufacturer does not provide warranty coverage if your scooter suffers water damage.
We did not have any problems riding after rain, but still, it’s not recommended.
When NOT to buy Hover 1 electric scooter?
Buyers who are looking for speed, long-range rides, and snow/rain riders, steer clear from Hover 1 scooter.
It has no IP rating, it’s relatively slow and you will get around 12 miles of range. If your budget can be increased then you should look for a little pricier option.
When to buy Hover 1 electric scooter?
When your budget is limited Hover 1 Alpha is the right choice for you. Ride quality is just exceptional for the price range this scooter is set to.
Large wheels, sturdy parts, joints, wide standing platform, will ensure a great experience.
Simply put this is an amazing entry-level electric scooter.

Final verdict
Great scooter under 500USD. Beginners will find this scooter a breeze to ride. Battery life is solid, and build quality is great for this budget.
There is very little chance you will find a better scooter than Hover 1 Alpha.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention that this scooter includes a speaker that you can connect to with Bluetooth. But, the speaker is not that strong and is located under your feed.
That being said you will probably not hear it while you ride.
